The various Duke of Edinburgh awards are excellent for building diverse skills (hard and soft skills) and gaining experience, as well as being hugely enjoyable and widely respected in education and the workplace.

Impact

The recent Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme ‘Impact Report 2024’ has further illustrated that young people who take part in the Award Scheme experience positive impacts on their wellbeing, skills development, community ties and physical activity. The report, which analyses data from 40,880 participants, shows statistically significant improvements in three specific wellbeing metrics:

  1. life satisfaction
  2. happiness
  3. feelings of doing things in life that are worthwhile

DofE @ Priory School

Priory School has a proud tradition of engagement with the DofE awards, with pupils achieving fantastic results in recent years across the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. In short, the 4 components of the Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels are the Physical, Skills, Volunteering and the Expedition sections.

Being asked to take on the role after my father is a particular honour and quite a responsibility. Sustaining and enhancing what is arguably his greatest legacy around the world matters a great deal to me, as does pursuing The Award’s long-term ambition of universal access so that every eligible young person has the opportunity to participate.”
