Christian Ethos

Located a short distance inland from the Isle of Wight’s beautiful coastline, Priory School has been inspiring young minds since 1993. As an independent day school for boys and girls aged 4 – 18, we weave a distinctively Christian ethos through every aspect of school life – an ethos rooted in compassion, integrity and service. Weekly assemblies, charitable initiatives and a culture of reflection & respect provides a moral compass that guides pupils well beyond the classroom.

Although proudly non-denominational, our doors are open to children of all faiths, and of none. Within our vibrant island community you will find pupils who are Christian, Jewish, Muslim and from many other backgrounds learning side by side, united by shared values of respect and curiosity. By grounding academic excellence in Christian principles while celebrating the rich diversity of the Isle of Wight, Priory School offers an education that is both spiritually nourishing and inclusively welcoming.

Pastoral Care

Assemblies form an essential part of the pastoral care Priory School extends to all its pupils. Special assemblies include key moments in the Christian calendar:

  • Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham – a celebration to honour the school’s patron with readings and quiet contemplation.

  • Remembrance Day – a solemn service in which pupils, staff and local families together bear silent witness to the sacrifices made in the past.

  • Christmas Service – carols, pupil-led readings and music, providing an opportunity for our pupils to engage with the wider Island community.
